LONDON - X Factor co-judge Cheryl Cole has been named as one of the 50 most powerful women in film and television this year.
Cole, 27, joins the likes of on-screen talent like Dames Maggie Smith, Julie Walters and Helen Mirren as well as bosses of TV stations, filmmakers and writers.
Judges of the prestigious annual list said that she has been recognised for the part she has played in making the talent show one of the most successful ever on British screens.
“She is probably the most famous woman in the country right now,” the Scotsman quoted judges as saying of the Girls Aloud singer.
“Cheryl Cole has gone from reality show contestant to fashion icon, platinum-selling recording artist and X Factor judge in the space of eight years.
“Highly influential, the former footballer’s wife is now considered the nation’s sweetheart. A genuine superstar,” they stated.
Trade “bible” Broadcast, whose editor Lisa Campbell said the industry was still harder for women than men, revealed the full list of 50. (ANI)
