NEW DELHI - Vinod Thakur was born without legs, but he charmed one and all with his awe-inspiring dance on reality show “India’s Got Talent 2″. And now he will receive a Super Idol award, an initiative to honour those who exemplify a positive attitude.

Thakur, 21, learnt dancing on his own by watching the moves of professionals in dance videos. His talent became widely known after he participated in Color’s “India’s Got Talent 2″, where he danced on his hands.

The second edition of the awards by IBN7 and Bajaj Allianz will be held in Mumbai Nov 29.

Thakur will be presented the award in the art, culture and entertainment category, said a press statement.

Another claimant for the award in the same category is Manji Bhai L. Ramani, who started mouth painting after losing both his arms in an accident.

“To become successful, one doesn’t necessarily need physical ability, what one needs is ample courage - a quality redefined by these heroic achievers. It is commendable the way these idealistic individuals have been able to overcome all obstacles by adopting an equitable mix of spirit and effort to earn acceptance and success,” said Rajdeep Sardesai, editor-in-chief, CNN-IBN, IBN7 and IBN Lokmat.

Thirteen inspirational people will be awarded for their spirit in categories like business and self-achievers, education, idol-maker (abled), national service and rehabilitation and sports.

A lifetime achievement award will be given to Sanjana Goyal, a victim of muscular dystrophy. She is working to help various muscular dystrophy patients across India, and is the founder president of the Indian Association of Muscular Dystrophy (IAMD) based in Solan, Himachal Pradesh.
