NEW DELHI - After successfully accomplishing the task of securing Delhi during the Commonwealth Games 2010, Delhi Police are now preparing for their next big assignment - US President Barack Obama’s visit to the capital Nov 7-9.

There will be heavy barricading in front of the ITC Maurya Sheraton hotel (where Obama will stay). Roads that Obama will use for travel will be monitored constantly, said a police official.

The security agencies are also reported to have made arrangements to position snipers at strategic locations across the city during Obama’s visit to Delhi.

Obama will visit India from Nov 6-9. He is expected to arrive in Delhi Nov 7.

Home Minister P. Chidambaram has expressed confidence in the arrangements being made by security agencies for Obama’s visit.

There should be no concern regarding the security of US President Obama,” Chidambaram told reporters earlier this week.
