GURGAON - After bringing Indian Broadway alive on stage with “Zangoora”, Kingdom of Dreams is making this festive season joyful by organising a special dandiya fest.

Called “Dandiya Masti 2010″, it kicked off Oct 8 at the Kingdom of Dreams. From two-year-olds to a 60-year-olds — all could be seen dancing non-stop for hours to the beat of Gujarati folk music and enjoying each and every moment with family and friends.

NGO Sahakar, which has been organising the dandiya fest in the capital for a decade, has organised it here. The festival will continue till Oct 17.

“This dandiya festival is an initiative to popularize Indian folk dance and celebrate cultural diversity. We have been organising this festival for the past 12 years in Delhi. But this time when I visited Kingdom of Dreams and saw how beautiful it was, we decided to organise dandiya festival here,” Jagdip Rana, president, Sahakar told IANS.

“This 10-day festival will see dandiya competition, live folk music and much more. Artists from Ahmedabad, Mumbai and Surat will be performing.

“For those who don’t know how to do garba, our volunteers will help them learn the dance form within five minutes,” he added.

Vibrant traditional Gujarati dresses, fashion accessories, jewellery and dandiya sticks in variety of designs are available at the Culture Gully on rent and people can even buy them.

There are competitions too like best dandiya couple, dandiya king and dandiya queen and exquisite gifts are being given to the winners everyday.

The entry fee is Rs.250 per person.
