Dempsey Raises $1.1 Million For Cancer Cause

Actor PATRICK DEMPSEY has raised more than $1.1 million (£730,000) to benefit the hospital which treated his mother’s cancer, after embarking on a charity cycling challenge.
The Grey’s Anatomy star took to the streets of his native Maine on Sunday (03Oct10) to participate in the race, and led 4,000 cyclists on a trip through the city of Lewiston.
The participants helped raise in excess of $1.1 million for the Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope & Healing at Central Maine Medical Center.
Dempsey launched the race last year (09) to raise money for the hospital, where his mum endured three courses of cancer treatment.
