NEW YORK - Troubled Lindsay Lohan was released from a Los Angeles jail late Friday night after posting 300,000 dollars bail, but was ordered to wear a booze-monitoring scram anklet within 24 hours.
Lohan was set free after Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Patricia Schnegg overturned another judge’s decision to lock the actress up earlier in the day.
“She’s been very cooperative, always has been-the first time and hopefully this is the last time,” the New York Daily News quoted Steve Whitmore, spokesman for the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, as saying.
“She was demure, she was a model inmate,” he added.
The 24-year-old’s release came after a day of high drama and an appeal from her ace lawyer Shawn Chapman Holley who argued the “Mean Girls” star was unlawfully whisked away in handcuffs after her morning court appearance.
“There is no question that Ms. Lohan is entitled to bail while her alleged probation violation is being adjudicated,” Chapman Holley claimed.
Schnegg agreed ruling that Judge Elden Fox overstepped his authority when he had deputies put her in cuffs.
Schnegg said California law guarantees defendants bail in misdemeanor cases and set bail along with some stringent conditions, including a new booze-monitoring scram anklet, which she must have fitted within 24 hours.
It will be the actress’ third time wearing the device.
Lohan was ordered to court because she flunked a recent drug test with cocaine in her system, a source told the Daily News.
She is due back in court on Oct. 22 for a probation violation hearing. (ANI)
