KOLKATA - Bollywood actress Raima Sen feels that everyone should respect the privacy of her grandmother and legendary actress Suchitra Sen.
“She nowadays doesn’t come in front of the camera. She loves to spend her life away from public sight. So I think that everyone should respect her privacy,” Raima told reporters after walking the ramp as showstopper at a fashion show in Kolkata.
Suchitra Sen was awarded National Award in 1955 and was the first Indian actress to be awarded at an international film festival in Moscow in 1963.
But since 1979 Suchitra Sen has not appeared in public, earning her the sobriquet India’s Greta Garbo. She even reportedly refused to accept Dadasahed Phalke Award in 2005 as she preferred to stay out of the public eye.
Raima rubbished all rumours that she is going to play her grandmother’s role in an upcoming movie of Rituparno Ghosh.
“I don’t want to play her role on screen. Memories of her acting are still alive in everybody’s mind. People love to watch her movies even now,” Raima said.
