THIRUVANANTHAPURAM - Debutant director Aneesh J. Karanad is a happy man as his Malayalam film “Nirakazhcha” will soon be dubbed in Italian and will be screened in 600 theatres across Italy.

“Nirakazhcha” is about an Italian painter, played by Vincenzo Bocciarelli, who visits Kerala to recreate the magnificent Raja Ravi Varma paintings and falls in love with a model (Mamata Mohandas).

Bocciarelli is a popular film, television and stage Italian actor.

Speaking to IANS, Aneesh said the offer came up after his film was screened at the Maratea International Film Festival in Italy recently.

“Now we will work on the dubbing in Italian language and will include some more passionate scenes, which would be liked by the Italian audience. Once ready, it will be screened in 600 theatres in Italy and also on a TV channel there,” said Aneesh.

“Nirakazhcha” is currently running in theatres and is expected to bring in the much needed financial support for the new filmmaker.

“Consequent to the success of this film, which was well received in Italy, I am doing a second Malayalam film which will also feature Vincenzo and star Priyamani as the heroine. The shooting will begin in January and half the film will be filmed in Italy,” said Aneesh.
