The film is a mythological adventure, picturized in a stylized and contemporary manner with quality action sequences rivaling international standards.
A Maya Digital Media production, ‘Ramayana - The Epic’ is one of the most ambitious and expensive full length animation feature films made in India. It has recreated the ancient classic like never before and possesses the enchantment and wonder of the original, presented with imaginative visual virtuosity and an aesthetic visual design.
‘Ramayana - The Epic’ has Manoj Bajpayee, Juhi Chawla, and Ashutosh Rana lending their voices to the lead characters of Ram, Sita and Ravan respectively.
Ketan Mehta, the recipient of many National and International awards, says, “The legend Rama, the original Indian Superhero, is the most popular Indian story ever told. Art inspires technology, and technology inspires art.”
Chetan Desai the talented debutant director of the film and his team of techno – artists have worked tirelessly to create some of the most complex animated characters and costumes, spectacular virtual sets and landscapes to be produced in India and appear on the Indian screen. Innovative techniques and processes had to be invented to give it the epic scale and bring alive India’s past glory.
He further added, “‘Ramayana-The Epic’ is the end result of nearly 5 years of hard work. The concept consumed me for nearly 3 years after which we worked on our computer screens day and night for over two years to come up with the final result. The film is like my first baby and will always have a special place in my career and life. Now all hopes are pinned on the audience- I hope they accept it with as much love as we have made the film with.”
Producer Deepa Sahi adds “‘Ramayana-The Epic’ with its moving contemplation of mortality, human values and power of good over evil is a perfect piece of popular entertainment that will be watched and loved by all ages. Just like the classic tale it has action, emotion and vivid characters, and it always keeps moving forward.”
