‘Peepli Live’: The Director Speaks

MUMBAI, INDIA (GaeaTimes.com)- ‘Peepli Live‘ the latest production of Aamir Khan and directed by newcomer director Anusha Rizvi has got heartwarming reviews from the critics but the director, who worked as a journalist before is of the opinion that the hard hitting movie may not change the scenario after all. The director said that the movie may send the message across the viewers and but in the end very few people would feel the need to do something to bring a change in the system. She was candid about the issue and said the residents of urban areas hardly bother about the plight of the rural folk.
The director of ‘Peepli Live‘ also said that film has a satirical tone and it aims to present a grave issue in a format that may provoke laughter among the viewers. The film takes a dig at all level of politicians, bureaucrats and media who do not leave a chance to exploit others if it can benefit them in a way or other. The director also said that she has used her inputs from her years of experience in the media. She was candid about admitting that the film got much more hype and limelight owing to the association with Amir Khan Productions. However, she worked previously with documentaries and the celluloid venture is not exactly her first dabbling with movies.
‘Peepli Live‘ has got positive response at the film festivals abroad as well. The film also bagged the Best First Feature Film award in Durban International Film Festival and it has left the director of the film elated.
