Mumbai (GaeaTimes.com) - When you come to know Amir Khan associated with a film what can you expect but a master piece. After marvels like Taare zameen par and 3 idiots here comes another milestone Peepli Live.

The maiden venture of star reporter Anusha Rizvi and produced by Mr. Perfectionist Amir Khan, the film is focused on rural India and its problems. The film raises the issue of farmer suicides in our agricultural country from a satirical point of view. The problems faced by our helpless farmers who finally embrace death as a solution to their unending difficulties.

The film takes us to remote village of the state Mukhya Pradesh called Peepli. The story tells us about a farmer called Natha played by actor Omkar Das Manikpuri and his elder opportunist brother played by Raghubir Yadav. Natha has a small plot of land which will be taken by the Government if he does not repay his loan. Meanwhile he heard that Government will pay 100 thousand to the farmers who have committed suicide for not being able to repay their loans. To save his land and his family he decides to end his life.

How the bureaucrats, ministers, media and even the local people try to take a bit of it for their own advantage is filmed accurately. The satire roles all over the TRP hungry media which can steep down to any level, the cunning politicians who make a mockery of some body’s life and death to win an election.

As a director Rizvi has scored 10 out of 10 in her maiden venture. The virgin issues have been handled with utmost care. In the huge cast everybody has got the deserving attention. Daily chores of rural life have been lucidly represented. The routine argument between Natha and his wife and the atrocities of powerful locals all seem real and important. The film takes us to a dark comedy and presents a bleak issue with lot of humor.

The music of the movies has been inspired by folk music. The cinematography sketches the village really well. All in all, Peepli Live is a movie which will help us to differentiate between “Shining India” and “Real India” without being prejudicial.
