MANILA, PHILIPPINE (GaeaTimes.com) - The Philippine National Police (PNP) has come into a mutual agreement with the international film industry to oppose any effort of film piracy Today.

The Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) was signed in Mandaluyong City. The function was attended by Director General of PNP, Jesus Verzosa. The National Cinema Association of the Philippines (NCAP) was represented by Atty. Rolando Dueas, the Motion Picture Association represented by Mr. Mike Robinson, and the Motion Picture Anti-Film Piracy Council (MPAFPC) represented by Mr. Dominic Du. They have come under the conclusion that any person or association found guilty in making pirated movies will be arrested and detained according to Anti-Camcording ACT.

PNP stated that Philippines is one of the highest source of film pirates. According to sources, the film industry loses $18 billion due to piracy. This has led the film industry to join hands with PNP to take immediate action against such crimes.

PNP declared that this law prohibits any recording in film theaters and also penalizes any unauthorized use of any recording devices to transmit or copy a film. Lets hope that PNP will be able to eradicate film piracy in the long run with this new memorandum.
