MUMBAI, INDIA (GaeaTimes.com)- The much awaited slick urban comedy ‘Aisha‘ which is inspired by Jane Austen’s celebrated novel Emma released yesterday in India. The movie got a good pre release buzz and the promos also generated a lot of interest among the youngsters before its release. However, in spite of the positive buzz in the industry the movie has got a moderate opening. The multiplexes in various parts of India recorded 50 to 80 percent footfall for the shows of Aisha. However, in the single theaters the footfall was much less. The film however has got good reviews from the film critics in general and the performances of both Sonam Kapoor and Abhay Deol have won accolades.

The movie ‘Aisha‘ has been reportedly made within a budget of 21 crore. The producers still need to recover around 9 crore after the satellite rights and music sales. The task is hard since the movie has no actors who are popular overseas. Hence the overseas collection of the movie will not be much. The movie is also facing tough competition from the slick gangster flick named ‘Once Upon a Time In Mumbai’ which has got a bumper opening and is on its way to become a hit. However, Abhay Deol is not an actor who would talk about the box office fate of his movies. He has always been more interested in the subject of a movie rather than its box office fate.

However, the producers of ‘Aisha‘ are hopeful that the film may pick up through word of mouth publicity in small towns and suburban areas in the next week. However it will have to compete with the Hollywood movies which are doing rather well.
