MUMBAI, INDIA (GaeaTimes.com)- After much anticipation the Abhay Deol- Sonam Kapoor starrer ‘Aisha‘ has hit the theaters today. For the actress it is a big and important movie and for Abhay Deol, his attempt to go mainstream after a long gap. The movie shows the life of an upscale Delhi girl played by Sonam Kapoor. She has a penchant for match making and takes it up seriously even though her close buddies ask her not to get involved with the lives of others. The role of Arjun is played by Abhay Deol. He asks Aisha to mend her wayward life and even patronizes her at times.
Aisha comes across a small-town girl named Shefali played by Amrita Puri and she tries to give her a makeover. She ends up making her a clone of her own self. She also tries to find a suitor for the girl and creates several forced situations. However, from there things go beyond her control and a whirlwind journey begins. The film is a roller coaster ride but it is possible for the viewers to relate with the characters of the film. The film also has some witty dialogues that sound fresh.
Rajshree Ojha is the director of the film ‘Aisha‘ and one has to admit that the direction is near perfect. It is not a serious film but does not also go near frivolousness either. The other plus point of Aisha is its peppy and groovy music. Sonam Kapoor gives a promising performance and she has proved that she is capable of showing her emotions. Abhay Deol as always gives a wonderfully understated performance. Among other characters Cyrus Shaukhar and Ira Dubey stand out.
