PANAJI - Bollywood film “Khatta Meetha” made waves in the Goa legislative assembly Monday as legislators drew comparisons between corruption in the state and contractor-oriented systemic corruption theme shown in the Akshay Kumar-starrer.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) legislator Damu Naik exhorted all members to watch “Khatta Meetha” because of its similarity to the corruption in Goa’s corridors of power.

“Everyone among you must see ‘Khatta Meetha’. It is a movie about a contractor and his struggle with corruption. A lot of the things seen in the movie are just like what happens in Goa,” Naik said, while speaking during a discussion on public works-related demands during the monsoon session of the assembly.

Naik, a film producer himself, said “Khatta Meetha” had lessons to be learnt for legislators, officials and the common man.

Ruling legislator Dayanand Narvekar also made allusions to the Bollywood film, saying that one of the characters shown in the movie even looked like state Public Works Department Minister Churchill Alemao.
