July 5, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): Producer Ramanarayanan of Sri Thenandal Movies had incurred incredulously big profits with Arundhathi and 2012 in 2009. And this year, he has acquired the rights for the most expected Hollywood film of 2010 – M. Night Shyamalan’s The Last Airbender. Shyamalan has made this film following the grand success of The Happening.
The film, which has fetched mixed reviews in USA, will be hitting screens in India only on July 9. It’s worth mentioning that the flop shows in Hollywood have done remarkable business in India, especially in Tamil Nadu. Say for instance, Van Helsing and 2012 were utter flops in US but fetched best results here.
Apart from this film, Ramanarayanan has acquired the rights for Tamil version of Inception. This film is directed by Christopher Nolan of Mementoes fame (remade in Tamil as Ghajini) and features Leonardo DiCaprio in lead role. The film is reported to have inspired A.R. Murugadoss for his upcoming film 7 AUM ARIVU.
