Lilith Fair Dates Scrapped

The revamped Lilith Fair has become the latest victim of the ongoing economic crisis - promoters have scrapped tour stops in Tennessee and Arizona due to poor ticket sales and performer cancellations.
The all-female music festival dates in Nashville and Phoenix have been scrapped just days before the touring event begins in Calgary, Canada (27Jun10).
The apparent failure of the festival has prompted some acts to back out of planned sets - Norah Jones, who was scheduled to play five shows in August, will no longer be performing, according to Canada’s Globe and Mail newspaper, and the Go-Go’s were forced to scrap their Lillith Fair shows when guitarist Jane Wiedlin was injured while hiking.
Meanwhile, three of the Canadian tour stops have been moved to smaller venues.
Festival co-founder Terry McBride says, “We’re in the middle of a recession. The interesting thing is we’re stronger than most, but tickets are soft. Stateside has definitely been hurt a lot more. Canada, I think, has been affected by the recession, America has been slammed by it.”
The festival features co-founder Sarah McLachlan, Sheryl Crow, Rihanna, Ke$ha, Selena Gomez, Mary J. Blige and Kelly Clarkson.
