‘Help’ Has The Same Feel As An International Horror Film” Mugdha

June 25, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): After playing a strong supporting role in her debut film ‘Fashion’, Mugdha Godse was riding high. In fact she was also signed by Madhur Bhandarkar for his very next film ‘Jail’ where she was the solo heroine. In the midst of this, she also landed a role in ‘All The Best’ which worked well at the box office too. Now she is all set to be seen alongside Bobby Deol in horror flick ‘Help’.
From a spinster (Fashion) to a girlfriend (All The Best, Jail) to a married woman (Help) - One wonders if this isn’t too much of a personality progression for Mugdha in such quick time? Doesn’t she feel that at her age, she should be going for college romantic musicals rather than playing a wife?
"Why are you forgetting that I had played a wife in ‘Fashion’ as well? Yes, I was married to a gay (played by Sameer Soni) but technically, I still took a plunge, right", smiles Mugdha, "One should see what a role has to offer to you rather than worrying about your relationship status in a film."
Talking about her role in ‘Help’, Mugdha says, "My marriage with Bobby is shown to be going through troubled times. How we get together and eventually love wins is the crux here. It’s a good mix and match affair because it’s a fact that nothing can win over love. But yes, you can’t have everything going well and hunky dory all the time. It doesn’t work that way, naa? Aakhir thoda sa drama toh chahiye."
Mugdha has worked with established directors like Madhur Bhandarkar and Rohit Shetty in the past. What made her say yes to a newcomer film maker like Rajeev Virani who only has a forgettable non-starter ‘My Bollywood Bride’ (2007) featuring Kashmira Shah to his credit?
"Rajiv is a very forward thinking director", says Mugdha, "He is not one of those film makers who comes up with those typical spooky moments or walk into those dark spaces scenes to get that scary element into a horror film. I can say that because I have seen the rushes of ‘Help’ and my first reaction was that ‘wow, this stuff is really different’. I have seen international Hollywood films and ‘Help’ belongs to the same category."
