Katherine Heigl insists she didn’t adopt to be trendy

LONDON - American actress Katherine Heigl laughed away rumours that she adopted a baby daughter to stay ‘trendy.’
Heigl said that rumours, claiming that she wants to be a fashionable mother celebrity, are funny.
The ‘27 Dresses’ star became a first-time mothering September 2009 when she and her husband Josh Kelley adopted daughter Naleigh from South Korea.
Heigl recently disclosed that she is planning to adopt for the second time, saying that she wants to help orphans of Haiti, reports The Daily Star.
The actress has been facing accusations since then.
“It’s so funny. My mum and I joke about it when people say ‘You’re just doing it because it’s trendy’. My mum says Well, I’m trendier than everybody because I was doing it in the 1970s when I adopted your sister,” she told Metro newspaper.
“I’m very grateful for this little being in my life. I’m very grateful she’s my daughter. I’m so grateful we found each other. It’s not so much about her being adopted. I just wanted to be a mum and she needed one so here we are,” she added. (ANI)
