BONO, BENICIO DEL TORO and Spanish movie couple PENELOPE CRUZ and JAVIER BARDEM have teamed up for a star-studded new Lazarus Effect Campaign ad to raise awareness for medication in Africa.
The stars all show off silly items that can be bought for 40 cents (25 pence) - the daily price of pills that can help HIV sufferers stay alive.
In the campaign ad, Bono shows off a novelty hat, Cruz some bubble gum, Bardem lipstick and Del Toro a stamp.
Glee star Jane Lynch offers “helium” from a balloon, Julia Louis-Dreyfus a fake moustache, Orlando Bloom a balloon dog and rapper Ludacris a sheet of fabric softener in the quirky (Red) campaign ad.
A sombre Bono ends the clip by stating, “Two pills a day is what it takes to stay alive if you’re HIV-positive. These pills cost about 40 cents a day.”
