April 22 is observed as Earth Day. Earth Day is celebrated to spread the awareness of saving our mother earth. The concept of Earth day was established by U.S. Senator Gaylord Nelson on 22nd April, 1970. Since then, Earth Day is celebrated to mark the importance of our earth, keep it clean and green and protect it.
Earth day is observed in 175 countries in every year. The Earth week is celebrated between 16th April and 22nd April. Various activities such as Clean Air Act, the Clean Water Act, and the Endangered Species Act are part of this Earth Day.
Earth Day 2010 has coincided with he World People’s Conference on Climate Change, to be held in Cochabamba, Bolivia, and with the International Year of Biodiversity. The Earth Day 2010 is aimed at combating climate changes, currently our earth is facing.
