Hollywood vs. The Volcano: Ash disrupts celebs
LOS ANGELES — The volcanic cloud hovering over Europe that has left thousands of air travelers stranded is also affecting celebrities, filmmakers, musicians and even pro-wrestlers.
Cancellations and postponements are popping up across the entertainment landscape this weekend as scientists warned that volcanic activity showed no sign of abating.
Organizers of the Coachella Music Festival in Indio, Calif., tweeted that some acts were forced to pull out of the weekend event. Whitney Houston was forced to ditch a plane for a ferry to perform in Dublin. And several other musicians in Europe who had planned to attend the Culture Shock Festival in Purchase, N.Y., and a concert in Hoboken, N.J., were also grounded.
Back in Hollywood, the French director and producers of the Disney documentary “Oceans” were stuck overseas and will not be attending the film’s world premiere on Saturday.
