Gadkari terms Congress narrow-minded for insulting Amitabh Bachchan

KOLKATA - BJP president Nitin Gadkari on Wednesday slammed Congress party for being ‘narrow-minded’ in insulting Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan.
Last Wednesday, Bachchan’s presence at the inauguration of a new wing of the Bandra-Worli Sea Link in Mumbai caused a flutter in Congress party’s camp, as Maharashtra Chief Minister Ashok Chavan inaugurated the event.
The event was basically considered as a Congress party’s event where the presence of Mr. Bachchan, who is now the BJP-ruled Gujarat’s Brand Ambassador, created uproar in party circles.
Gadkari today accused the Congress of insulting an iconic figure (Bachchan) by crticising him.
He said the Maharashtra Chief Minister avoided 83rd Marathi Literary Meet in Pune to avoid the embarrassment of rubbing shoulders with Amitabh again and angering the Congress president Sonia Gandhi.
Gadkari said there was no democracy in the Congress and Amitabh was a superstar who has made the country proud.
” He is not a villain. He made our country proud,” said Gadkari.
Addressing a public meeting in Kolkata he also criticized Congress spokesperson Manish Tewari for launching an attack on Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi.
He said Tiwari’s statement was “unfortunate”.
Gadkari said that he was hopeful that BJP would come in the power and will form the government at Centre.
He also said in the Assembly year in Bengal in next year BJP would emerge as a decisive factor to form the government. (ANI)
