Actress ABBIE CORNISH faces a $2,200 (1,500 Euros) fine in France after foolishly showing off her graffiti art on a U.S. chat show.

The Bright Star actress ‘tagged’ a railway station wall in Robion during a day off from shooting A Good Year with Russell Crowe in 2005.

The Aussie star showed off her ‘art’ on Jimmy Kimmel Live! last week (ends08Jan10) and told the late night TV host she thought she was in the clear because “it’s too long past the date to go to jail now.”

The actress won’t be jailed for spray-painting her tag name and a self-portrait on the wall, but she could face a heavy fine after identifying herself as the vandal.

A police spokesman in the French town tells WENN that such vandalism is punishable with a 1,500 Euros fine.

And the local town council isn’t taking the matter lightly. One local dignitary, who asked to remain nameless, says, “Graffiti is a big problem and it’s illegal.”

But Cornish has one thing in her favour - no one in the Provence town seems to know who she is.

The council spokesman explains, “I’ve asked around and no one has any idea who this Abbie Cornish is or what she looks like.”
