WASHINGTON - Denzel Washington has confessed he regrets turning down the 1995 crime film Seven.

The actor revealed he was approached by director David Fincher to play Detective David Mills but refused because he thought the film would be too dark.

The double Oscar winner later realised he had made a mistake when he saw Brad Pitt play the role in the movie based on a series of ritualistic murders inspired by the seven deadly sins.

“They offered me the Brad Pitt part, but I was like, ‘This is so dark and evil’,” Contactmusic quoted him as telling Entertainment Weekly magazine.

“Then, when I saw the movie, I was like, ‘Oh, shoot,’” he added. (ANI)
