Washington Regrets Turning Down Seven

DENZEL WASHINGTON will always regret turning down BRAD PITT’s role in SEVEN - because he thought the film would be too dark.

Washington was director David Fincher’s first choice to play Det. David Mills in the 1995 thriller but the double Oscar winner passed and Pitt took the part opposite Morgan Freeman and his then-girlfriend Gwyneth Paltrow.

And the Training Day star kicked himself when he eventually saw the film.

He tells Entertainment Weekly magazine, “They offered me the Brad Pitt part, but I was like, ‘This is so dark and evil.’

“Then, when I saw the movie, I was like, ‘Oh, shoot.’”
