Murphy’s Widower Speaks Of Devastation

BRITTANY MURPHY’s grieving husband has spoken of his devastation for the first time since his wife’s tragic death on Sunday (20Dec09) - insisting his “world was destroyed”.
Simon Monjack, who married the Clueless star in 2007, confirmed that his mother-in-law Sharon found Murphy “unresponsive” in the bathroom after growing concerned over how long she had been in there.
He tells Access Hollywood, “Sharon went into the bathroom because she had been in there a long time. Her mom screamed for me and I ran. Then called 911.”
And despite reports that his wife had been severely ill on the morning of her death, Monjack insists she was just run down after a busy year.
He reveals, “She had laryngitis. She had been tired at the end of the year. She had made a couple (of) movies.”
The bereaved British screenwriter says he has been left completely broken by the star’s passing - but the tribute paid by the actress’ ex Ashton Kutcher left him moved.
He says, “My world was destroyed yesterday. I loved what Ashton wrote on Twitter. It was comforting to me. I couldn’t have said it better.”
Kutcher wrote on his Twitter.com page on Sunday, “2day (sic) the world lost a little piece of sunshine. See you on the other side kid.”
The cause of Murphy’s death has been “deferred” pending toxicological results, although an autopsy on her body was completed on Monday (21Dec09).
