WASHINGTON - The film ‘This Is It’ that charts the final days of Michael Jackson has become the fifth biggest foreign bow of the year after opening to a massive 68.5 million dollars at the international box office.

The movie’s worldwide opening haul of 101 million dollars for five days was said to have led Sony to extend its two-week run by three weeks in North America, according to Rentrak.

“The numbers are incredible, and we got some of the highest exit polls we’ve ever seen,” Variety magazine quoted Sony worldwide prexy of distribution Rory Bruer as saying.

“It goes far beyond being a concert movie. Kenny Ortega created a film that is compelling and exciting and an incredible tribute to the King of Pop,” Bruer added.

The documentary features behind the scenes footage of the late singer as he rehearsed for his sold-out comeback concerts in London before his sudden death on June 25.

The two-hour movie, which is being hyped as the last-ever performance by the star, was rolled out for 18 simultaneous remieres in five continents. (ANI)
