LONDON - The live songs featuring in the tribute movie to Michael Jackson, ‘This is it,’ have been actually re-mastered with old recordings, it has emerged.

Music studio experts have claimed that some recordings have been digitally manipulated.

Moreover, some vocals recorded almost 28 years ago are also weaved into the film.

“Throughout the film sudden changes in vocal timbre suggest the dropping in of older recordings which may have required significant digital manipulation to fit the new live backing,” the Sun quoted former BBC senior studio manager Andrew Rose as saying.

The vocals of the King of Pop’s track ‘Earth Song’ has apparently been lifted from a 1991 demo, still available on YouTube.

Rose alleges that technicians working on the film have speeded up and lowered the pitch of the old recording of the track.

To “prove” his claim, he even mimicked the process in his studio.

Forensic musicologist Peter Oxendale further asserted that the film version “emanated” from the 1991 demo.

Also, they have suggested that the version of ‘Billie Jean’ includes lyrics dropped from the final cut of the 1982 Thriller album.

Andrew further alleges that the voice on the song in the film is “not that of a 50-year-old man”.

He explained that the pop legend keeps fiddling with his headset microphone in the film.

However, the sound is noted only once, even though it is supposed to be heard “almost all of these times”.

Jim Kennedy, of Sony Pictures, said: “In order to fulfil Michael’s vision for his fans and his children… the film-makers had to incorporate some pre-existing materials, including vocals, where the rehearsal footage audio was incomplete and/or inaudible.

“In addition, usage of master recordings (such as Earth Song) was credited in the end titles.”

Meanwhile, director Kenny Ortega has said the recordings in the film have “a real unguarded honesty”. (ANI)
