WASHINGTON - Matt Damon has revealed that he talked to Hollywood legend Robert De Niro to seek help in gaining weight for his new film ‘The Informant’.

‘The Departed’ star was conscious of how De Niro had piled on pounds for his film ‘Raging Bull’.

“I talked to (Robert) De Niro before I did it and he had obviously piled on the pounds really famously for Raging Bull, putting on 60 pounds,” Contactmusic quoted him as saying.

“I asked him about it and he said, ‘Well, the first 15 pounds is really fun and then you have to go to work after that.’

“It was true except I found the 30 pounds to be really fun and then, kind of towards the end, I thought I should get rid of this weight, but I wasn’t excited about getting rid of it,” he added.

Damon gained 30 pounds to play Mark Whitacre in the new Steven Soderbergh film.

He added: “I just started eating… It felt fantastic putting on weight; I never had that much fun making a movie. I just ate whatever I wanted to.” (ANI)
