KOLKATA - The textile heritage of Jaipur came alive at the Kolkata Fashion Week-II Sunday as gorgeous models sashayed down the ramp displaying designer Anita Dongre’s collection produced in the pink city.

“My entire collection is inspired by Jaipur as I have spent my childhood over there,” Dongre told mediapersons after the show on the fifth and final day of the fashion extravaganza.

“The collection has been produced in Jaipur. Most of the fabrics were sourced from Jaipur with a few from Benaras as it has a very rich textile heritage,” the designer said.

To create the proper ambience, the models’ make up were done in a way that it gave an authentic look of Jaipur. “I wanted them to have loosely plated hair and tattoos so that it gives the authentic look.”

She used colours like red, golden, peacock blue, orange and black for her collection.

Bollywood-actress Rimi sen, who starred in “Dhoom” opposite Abhishek Bachchan, was the showstopper for Dongre in a traditional grey and magenta sari.

“This is the first time I have walked the ramp. I was a bit nervous. I am just comfortable in jeans and T-shirt,” she said.

But Sen said she was “very comfortable” in the sari she was wearing.
