PPP Govt. a ’speed-breaker in the way of democracy’: Imran Khan

KARACHI - Cricketer turned politician Imran Khan has said the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) - led government terming is a ’speed-breaker in the way of democracy.’
Khan said the government has failed to deliver the goods, and therefore, mid-term elections are imminent.
Interacting with media persons at an Iftar party here, he blamed the military regimes for Pakistan’s present chaotic situation.
Referring to the Swat military offensive, Imran said that military operations have always complicated things rather than resolved issues.
Commenting on the expansion plans of the US Embassy in Islamabad, Khan said such the move is indicative of how fragile Pakistan’s democratic set-up is.
“Establishing bases for American marines is a clear sign of fragile democracy in the country, while the rulers have destroyed the sovereignty of the country by following the policies of America,” The Nation quoted Khan, as saying. (ANI)
