‘Saving Private Ryan’ voted best war film

saving-private-ryanLONDON - Director Steven Spielberg’s 1998 Oscar winning film “Saving Private Ryan” was named the best war film of all time in a new poll.

Thesun.co.uk reports that the movie starring Oscar winner Tom Hanks won more than one fifth of the votes and beat the classic “The Great Escape” in the poll conducted by Lovefilm. Spielberg’s another Oscar winning movie “Schindler’s List” came in third and Francis Ford Copolla’s “Apocalypse Now” released in 1979 came in fourth.

Late filmmaker Stanley Kubrick’s gritty “Full Metal Jacket” was placed fifth.
