Oz movie stars attract 1 in every $10 at US box office annually

MELBOURNE - Australian movie stars, on average, help gross 1 in every 10 dollars at the US box office annually, suggests a study.
According to the study commissioned for The Daily Telegraph, Australian-origin celebrities helped rope in more than 1 billion US dollars.
Top Aussie actors have starred in movies that have earned 8.94 billion dollars since 2000, reports News.com.au.
Hugh Jackman tops the list, compiled by premiere box office ratings agency Rentrak, with his films having amassed 1.4 billion dollars in the past eight years, followed by Geoffrey Rush with 1.13 billion dollars.
Veteran actress Cate Blanchett came in third with 1 billion dollars, and then Erica Bana and the late Heath Ledger.
Australians in Film chairman Susie Dobson accorded the reason to Australians’ solid grounding. (ANI)
