Lorrie Morgan joins Broadway’s ‘Pure Country’
NEW YORK — Country music star Lorrie Morgan has been added to the cast of “Pure Country,” which is expected to open on Broadway early next year.
Producer Randall Wreghitt (REGG’-it) says Morgan will join Joe Nichols, another well-known country singer, in the musical based on the hit 1992 movie starring George Strait and Lesley Ann Warren.
The film has been adapted for the stage by Peter Masterson. It will have a score by Steve Dorff, who wrote songs for the film, including two No. 1 country singles, “Heartland” and “I Cross My Heart.” Both will be in the stage version.
