Ang Lee attends NY screening of ‘Taking Woodstock’
CHATHAM, N.Y. — Ang Lee is in upstate New York for the first of several U.S. screenings of his upcoming movie “Taking Woodstock.”
Lee and screenwriter/producer James Schamus are attending a benefit screening of the movie Thursday night in rural Columbia County, near where some scenes for the movie were filmed last year.
“Taking Woodstock” is based on a memoir by Elliot Tiber and chronicles the lead-up to the concert that drew half a million people to a farm in the Catskills.
The movie opens next month around Woodstock’s 40th anniversary.
The screening at the Crandell Theater is a fundraiser for the Regional Food Bank of Northeastern New York and The Chatham Film Club.
Lee and Schamus will attend another screening Aug. 8 in Woodstock.
