The film will go on floors once the choreographer-turned-actor-turned-director completes the Salman starrer as well as director Thangar Bachan’s “Kalavadia Pozhudhugal”, in which he is playing the protagonist.

Raja set for ‘Kick’ with brother Ravi

Southern filmmaker Raja, who has churned out several Tamil remakes of successful Telugu films with his younger brother Jayam Ravi, is at it again.

This time Raja has acquired the re-make rights of the Telugu hit movie “Kick”, which will star Ravi and Tamannaah, the current flavour of Tamil films.

Raja and Ravi’s father Mohan is also happy with his sons’ choice for the female lead. Tamannaah floored Mohan with her politeness and told him that she hasn’t seen the original, but is signing the remake because she has full faith in him and his sons.

“I will watch the movie later. As far as my remuneration is concerned, I am lucky to star in your movie. My ambition is to step into the vacant position of ‘No.1′, which was occupied by Simran earlier. I feel your film will provide me an ideal platform in acheiving my goal. So, I would take whatever you fix as salary for me,” Tamannaah told Mohan when she met him.

No wonder they are singing praises for the actress in unison!

Ameer fell in love with ‘Yogi’ theme

Tamil director Ameer Sultan is making his debut as an actor with “Yogi”, and says he accepted the film because it explores a never before theme.

“To prepare myself for the role, I took it as a challenge and did rigorous workouts, reduced my weight and went under strict diet,” said Ameer, who directed blockbuster “Paruthiveeran”.

“We chose to do a movie around Chennai hutments, which are hitherto unexplored. The protagonist Yogeswaran alias Yogi leads a happy-go-lucky life. The sequence of events that disrupts his routine makes up the story,” he added.

While Subramania Siva is weilding the megaphone for the movie, it is being produced by Ameer’s home production Team Works and the total budget of the movies is said to be Rs.11 crore.

The film got delayed but now the makers are planning to release it during Diwali.

Commenting upon the delay, Ameer said: “It is no easy task to shoot in Chennai. Just to shoot one scene we waited patiently for several weeks and it did cost a lot of money. The whole team worked hard”.

Ameer’s next directorial venture is “Kannabiran”, which has Jayam Ravi in the lead role.

“It will show Madurai in a different way. There would be no violence or bloodshed. We will begin shooting in a couple of months.”
