CHENNAI J - Actor Jeeva, with back-to-back Tamil hits in “Thenavattu” and “Siva Manasula Sakthi”, is done with experimental roles and is now gearing up for a new “commercial streak”.

“I have done enough experimentation by growing hair, putting on thick lenses, wandering to Poona in search of my lady love in my earlier films. I am fed up of doing this. Nobody is ready to see a film where the hero sobs and cries. The trend is changing and in tune with the times, I too have decided to change my selection of roles. This reflects in my films to be released in future,” Jeeva said.

The actor has a couple of projects in hand like “Kachcheri” and “Singampuli”.

Jeeva took up challenging roles in “Ram”, “Katradhu Tamizh”, “Eee”, “Dishyum” and “Rameswaram” seems to have given way to the new commercial avtaar in him.

“Lion (Singam) and Tiger (Puli) are the two most powerful animals found in the jungle. In my next film ‘Singampuli’, I’m portraying two characters as powerful as these two animals. This would be my first effort in double role. Though I’m a bit edgy about it, it’s been proceeding smoothly,” says the young star.

“I must admit that I’ve done quite a lot of homework to enable me to portray these roles. For hours together, I had floated in the sea-water. When people ran helter-skelter fearing another tsunami, I stayed back in the sea and had rigorously practised swimming. As and when the film releases, audience would be witnessing a ‘different’ Jeeva for sure.”

His father and veteran producer R.B. Choudhry is offering his new studio at half the rentals for shooting films featuring Jeeva.
