As we reported earlier, the O.C. star Mischa Barton has been put under involuntary psychiatric hold. The 5150 hold is reserved for individuals who present a danger to themselves or others, are gravely disabled or suffer from a mental disorder.
According to Access Hollywood, the 23-year-old actress was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Centre in Los Angeles after Mischa Barton called police at 3 p.m. with a health problem.
Her representative Craig Schneider told People.com, “Police were involved due to Ms. Barton’s celebrity status, to safely transfer her to medical treatment as per doctor’s orders. (She’s) OK and resting.”
“We assisted her with a medical issue and removed her from her home,” People magazine quoted LAPD Officer April Harding as saying.
She adds that no paramedics were involved and no arrests were made, but confidentiality laws prevent her from revealing details about Mischa Barton’s condition.
Mischa has canceled her appearance at the premiere of her new movie Homecoming.
“She has been dealing with a lot of personal issues,” a friend told People. “I don’t know if she really ever gave up some of the bad habits that had gotten out of control a couple years back.”
