Police release 911 audio, end probe of Gans death
HENDERSON, Nev. — Police in Nevada have released a 911 recording and closed their investigation of Las Vegas entertainer Danny Gans’ sudden death at home May 1.
Gans’ wife, Julie, is heard on the 911 audio released Thursday, calmly telling a dispatcher that she can’t awaken her 52-year-old husband and can’t tell if he’s breathing.
The dispatcher instructs Julie Gans to lay her husband on the floor and talks her through starting CPR. Henderson police arrive about seven minutes later.
The Clark County coroner ruled June 9 that Gans’ death was accidental.
The coroner said Gans died of a toxic reaction to an unspecified dose of the powerful painkiller hydromorphone, and suffered from chronic pain syndrome.
The police report provides no new medical information.
