Shiney Ahuja raped his maid and went to jail: Full Story

In an utterly shocking Monday morning, Shiney Ahuja created more headlines than two of the most talked about topics in India, cricket (yes, I am talking about MS Dhoni’s world champion team crashing out from World T20 cup) and recession (IMF chief said, the worst of economic downturn is yet to come). Well, there are reasons behind that. Shiney Ahuja got arrested for raping his housemaid while his family was away and then while all of India was praying for this innocent looking blue eyed man to come clean from the false blames, he accepted all the charges.
For someone like Shiney, who has Hazaron Khwaishe Aisi, Life in a Metro, Woh Lamhe and Gangster in his kitty and known for his reputation of being supportive and ‘very sober and gentle’ in the Bollywood industry, it was almost disbelieving unless things took serious turn. And if you are still surprised, take that: Shiney was actively helping Deepak Tijori when his daughter was victimized for rape.
We donno if Shiney learned from that incident and got encouraged to do such crime, but nevertheless, Mumbai police gave him a VIP treatment and offered him an AC room to sit and relax and meet his family (wonder how could he face them, I guess its just normal ).
Life in a metro is indeed shiny unless you get caught. No Shiney? Below is how bollywood reacted to the shocking piece of discovery.
Actor Shiney Ahuja is produced in the court on Monday. He has allegedly raped his domestic help and held under the section 376 after the preliminary test that confirmed the sexual assault. He will be in the custody till 18 june.
Filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt expressed while talking to the news channel, “I am ashamed and shocked to hear this. Shiney was actively helping Deepak Tijori when his daughter was victimized for rape. Shiney has been close to us. All I can say is that if he is found guilty, the court will condemn him.”
Vinod Pande, Director who introduced Shiney stated, “I have known him since long and after hearing this I am in shock and can’t comment. All I can say is that industry will incur loss as there are many movies lined up with him. I think we should wait for the final verdict to come”
Manoj Joshi, his co-actor in Bhool Bhoolaiyaa comments, “I have complete faith on Indian judiciary. If any crime is committed accuse should be punished irrespective of his status. I do not know him personally we have worked only in one scene of the film.”
Vinay Pathak who worked with Shiney in the film Khoya Khoya Chand, commented, “I am out of country and do not know the details. I was hinted by my friends in India. I don’t know Shiney personally and haven’t interacted with him. But I was shocked to know this and cannot comment on this.”
Anurag Basu director and friend of the actor said, “Obviously I am very shocked when i saw it in the news. I’m trying to get in touch with him or his relatives to know what exactly happened. Shiney whom I know personally is drastically different from the one in the headline. I am sure that he will get the clean chit. He is being framed. As far as I know he is not this type of person. I don’t see any reason for him to commit this crime. Why will he do this to a maid? This is a trap and there is something fishy. I wish what I believe is true.”

i used to like shiney as an actor but this situation is so sad and i’m totally against him. there’re so many unreported cases of sexual assaults that happen because ladies are scared, nervous and god! can you imagine your own state if this happened to you?! as a lawyer and an insider AND a victim myself, i’ve seen so many rich people get away with horrendous crimes and people always think the guy’s probably being “framed”. till this mentality is changed, none of the women in any part of the world are going to be safe |

shiney ahuja should b dealt with severely like any other perpretator of such a crime should b.he is very smart,why would he go to a brothel,he doesnt want to get HIV im sure.bcoz even if he wears a condom it can tear and his life can go 4 a toss.i am a doctor and hav seen cases of assault.its like dying every moment 4 the victim.it takes lot of courage to say that one was raped.MAY THE MAID GET JUSTICE |

Shiney’s maid is married. Shiney is being prejudiced. He is being humiliated and the media has already branded him ‘guilty’. Spare a thought for him guys… What if he is innocent? In photograph Shiney’s maid can be seen wearing a mangalsutra and green bangles. She may be married. The police should find out every detail about her background. I cannot believe that Shiney can put his future and his career at stake for a maid. He is a celebrity and that are chances of a frame up for an ulterior motive. The investigation should be fair and not prejudiced. The police should investigate the truth and not endeavor to build a watertight case against Shiney. Shiney should get a chance to prove his innocence and should not be tried outside the court. |

Shiney is a good actor. But what he has done to the girl is really bad. It is an irony , he is rich person and if he really wanted to satisfy his urge he should have gone to a brothel than spoiling an innocent girls life. He should be hanged. If he gets clean chit for his crime then i have no beleive in justice. |

It is Shiny Ahuja, that is why the news came up. There are many more people doing this heinous crime with small kids, boys and girls of all ages, middle aged and even old ladies, every day without getting caught. It is not a question about a celebrity, a man or a woman or common man, it rather is a question of humanity and human tyranny, that makes one the abuser and other the victim. Physical abuse is rape, but in this world, today, in the name of corruption, pollution, break-ups, cheating, politics, etc, we rape the other person every moment. This is all about respect towards people and creation that seems to have died all the more. |

An interesting legal point which was conveniently ignored by traditional media is: Even consensual sexual relationship by a married man is illegal but the punishment is less severe than rape. Sadly consent is really hard to prove one way or the other and Indian judiciary most often takes the side of the women in such incidents as far as I have seen. Note: IANAL - I Am Not A Lawyer |
