Russia media say cargo ship docks at space station
MOSCOW — An unmanned Russian cargo ship docked at the international space station Tuesday.
Russia’s state-run Vesti-24 television showed footage of the Progress M-02M hooking up with the orbital station.
The ship’s cargo included fuel, food and gifts for the crew, as well as a new space suit.
The five-day flight was about twice the usual length. It was the second voyage of an updated Progress craft and Russian space officials wanted to test its systems.
According to Vesti-24, the docking took place shortly before bedtime for the crew and they would not open the hatches until Wednesday.
Russian Gennady Padalka, American Michael Barratt and Japanese astronaut Koichi Wakata are currently aboard the station.
