‘Frugal’ Dame Helen Mirren loves sewing her hubby’s socks!

LONDON - Oscar-winning actress Dame Helen Mirren has admitted she is one of the most frugal women in Hollywood.

The 65-year-old actress, who commands fees of 5 million pounds per movie, says she likes nothing better than sewing her husband’s socks, and going to sales.

“I love darning. I darn my husband’s socks. I love it when he says, ‘I have a hole in my sock’ or ‘I have a rip in my trousers. Can you mend it?” the Daily Express quoted Mirren as saying.

Helen, who is married to film director Taylor Hackford, insisted she had no plans to retire and hit out at society’s obsession with women’s ages.

“The emphasis shouldn’t be on how we look - how young or how thin we are - it should be on what we have done and who we are,” she added. (ANI)
