San Juan, Jan 31 (IANS/EFE) Spanish singer Enrique Iglesias launched his “Euphoria World Tour” in Puerto Rico with a huge show full of energy before about 15,000 fans, who clearly enjoyed every moment of the artist’s performance.
Iglesias, wearing a simple T-shirt, blue jeans and a cap, began the evening Saturday in the Jose M. Agrelot colosseum in San Juan with his number “Tonight”, the hit from his new “Euphoria” album.
The 35-year-old artist continued with one of his first hits, “Nunca te olvidare”, followed by “No me digas que no”, helped out by Puerto Rican reggaeton duo Wisin and Yandel.
The son of the legendary singer Julio Iglesias let everyone attending the concert know that this would be a night of pure energy, and he continued the evening with “Rhythm Divine” and “Bailamos”, using those numbers to give his first long chats to the public.
“Good evening, San Juan. I remember that here was the first time that I got drunk, my first girlfriend was from here, and I lost my virginity (here),” he said, going on to recall that his paternal great-grandfather was born in the Puerto Rican capital.
Iglesias later invited a woman from the audience onto the stage with him, but the concertgoers did not follow his instructions very well with about 20 people making themselves comfortable there and toasting “the prettiest island in the world, Puerto Rico”.
The partner of former Russian tennis star Anna Kournikova ended his performance with “Escape” and “I like it” along with Cuban rapper Pitbull.
Through the end of February, the Spanish singer has scheduled concerts in Connecticut, New York, Miami, New Jersey and Los Angeles.
Later, he will appear in Montreal, Monterrey, Guadalajara, and Mexico City, performing in the latter city Feb 28 and March 1, and he will continue his tour through a large number of European cities, including London, Paris and Helsinki.
