LONDON - Acclaimed British actor Christian Bale, who walked away with the Golden Globe award for best supporting actor, says he wanted to do his own stunts during the filming of his latest flick “The Fighter” but was persuaded not to by insurance companies.

Bale, who plays former boxing champion turned crack-cocaine addict Dicky Eklund in the movie, insists that he was ready to perform his own stunts in the movie before being told that taking falls and tumbles was too risky, reports contactmusic.com.

Recalling one scene, the 36-year-old said he became upset after being told to step back so that a stuntman could dive through a window.

“I just got up there and I went, ‘I’m jumping’… I’ve jumped from three-storey buildings in my own life after bad parties and stuff. The insurance came around… and they were just begging me not to,” he said.
