NEW DELHI - The information and broadcasting ministry Wednesday again issued a show cause notice to Colors channel, this time for depicting excessive violence against women in the “Rishton Se Badi Paratha” show, based on honour killings.
A ministry official said the show denigrates the image of women and the channel has been given seven days to reply.
“The channel has been issued a show cause notice for showing explicit torture and violence against women. It is denigrating their image and lowering their integrity,” a ministry official told IANS.
“The evaluation has been done on the basis of the episodes telecast on Dec 21-22 and the channel has been given seven days to reply,” the official added.
However, the channel officials denied receiving any notice so far and said they will comment only when they receive it.
Earlier, the the ministry had issued notice to the channel Nov 16, directing it to shift the reality show “Bigg Boss” away from prime time as the show offended “good taste and decency”.
