NEW YORK - Zac Efron had to lose his famous locks for his new film ‘The Lucky One’ but it turned out to be an inspiration for his film crew who decided to follow into his footsteps for charity.
The actor portray a marine in the movie adaptation of the Nicholas Sparks book, which called for a buzz cut in some scenes.
However, the act inspired Efron to convince the film’s crew to cut their hair, as well, all in the name of charitable sacrifice, according to the Times-Picayune.
Efron pledged to donate money to Kingsley House, a New Orleans-based organization that serves local families, for every staffer that trimmed his or her head.
According to the paper, about 30 crew members took part and two women donated their hair to Locks of Love.
While Efron’s rep declined to say how much cash he donated but said the “High School Musical” star’s generous gift was born out of a long-held desire to help others.
“He likes doing things for charity - two Make-A-Wish kids [visited] the set while he was there - and he felt like he wanted to do something for a New Orleans charity since he had such a nice time shooting there,” the New York Daily News quoted his rep as saying. (ANI)
