NEW DELHI - Popularly known as Delhi’s wedding venue, Chhattarpur played host to the ‘Africa Nite Dinner Dance 2010′ as soulful African music played in the background.

The event organised over the weekend by African Diplomatic Group II to celebrate the partnership endeavours of both India and Africa titled “Africa-India: Partnering in Development” saw the presence of nearly 200 diplomats, Indian entrepreneurs and African students.

The guests were seen shaking a leg to African music as they celebrated, clinking wine and scotch glasses and engaging in lively conversation. There was none of the usual loud wedding music that can be heard in Chhattarpur venues.

The dinner menu included Indian as well as African dishes.

Spirits from the 53-nation continent too were served at the bar, brought in by the embassies.

An entry fee of Rs.2,000 was charged per guest and the collected amount will be donated by the diplomatic group to an Indian NGO which is to be selected over the week.

Airtel, Philips and Amity University were some of the sponsors of the event.

The event that began Saturday went on into the wee hours of Sunday, even as the temperature dipped!
