3D movie ‘Megamind’ tops US box office

LOS ANGELES - DreamWorks’ 3-D animation film “Megamind” topped the US box office with an estimated $47.6 million earnings.
“Due Date”, by director Todd Phillips, came at the second spot with an estimated earnings of $33.5 million.
“It was a huge weekend in general, and ‘Due Date’ did fabulously,” aceshowbiz.com quoted Warner Bros exective vice president distribution Jeff Goldstein as saying.
The third spot went to “For Colored Girls”. A movie adaptation of the 1975 play “For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow Is Enuf”, the movie grossed an estimated $20.1 million.
“Red” and “Saw 3D” wrapped up the top five with an estimated earning of $8.8 million and $8.2 million respectively.
