NEW YORK - ‘Iron Man’ star Robert Downey Jr has opened up about his relationship with actor Mel Gibson, and also revealed what he would say to his troubled pal.

Downey Jr, 45, who appeared on the ‘Today Show’ for his new movie, ‘Due Date’, was asked how he would advice Gibson, 54, who was accused of domestic abuse against former girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva.

“The truth is, he and I have a friendship that spans well over two decades, and he’s a stand-up guy; he always has been for me,” the New York Daily News quoted him as saying.

“There’s the reality of what happens to people and the mistakes that they make and the journeys they’re on, and then there’s the media, and then there’s everyone’s opinion.

“The way I honour my friendship with him is by not getting too involved in whatever the public discussion is,” he added. (ANI)
